Ugh... What were they thinking?
We are rewarding the Radical Muslims for the worst terrorist attack in American history.
I also have no problems with other religions, but I don't understand this. I, for one, am not against building a Mosque in New York. However, I don't see how constructing a Mosque near where the people of the same faith (they were all Muslims, as were the people who pray in Mosques) killed so many is an act of peace.
This is simply encouraging more attacks. "Hey we get a nice know Mosque everything we fly airplanes into buildings!" Rewarding for comitting a crime. PLEASE DO NOT GET ME WRONG, I AM NOT AGAINST BUILDING A MOSQUE. I JUST DON'T SEE HOW REWARDING PEOPLE WHO COMMIT CRIMES BRINGS PEACE.
To go off topic for a moment, it is like giving amnesty to illegal immigrants. "Hey, everything our people cross the border illegally, they get rewarded with full citizenship instead of facing punishment for their crimes"
Am I the only one who would see an increase in crime if we reward it? Oh no, that makes us Conservatives evil.
I just read something that I thought was interesting:
"Personaly... if they legally own the land and don't use my tax dollars to build their religious place of worship or whatever it is... they can put the thing where ever they want."

I agree, they have the right to build what and where they want IF they own the land. But that doesn't mean that it will result in peace and probably have result in the opposite, as this is a reward to them...

I don't think the author of this political cartoon understands the difference between 9/11 and the murder of Native Americans
On September 11th, Radical Islamic terrorists with the goal of crippling the free word (with the ultimate goal of destroying it) flew airplanes into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.
2752 People were killed.

Unfortunately for the author, I do not recall an incident where 2752 Native Americans were killed as a result of American terrorism. Furthermore, I do not recall a time where 1 Native American was killed as a result of American terrorism. When you look at each incident where Natives were killed, there was always something to provoke it, that makes sense.
Also, I don't recall an incident where Christians attacked and killed Native Americans in the name of God. The 9/11 terrorists attacked and killed Americans in the name of Allah and thought they would be rewarded for it.
The author of the cartoon is trying to compare American settlers and soldiers to the terrorists who attacked the United States on 9/11. However, he did not do a good job of it because comparing Americans to terrorists NEVER works and is NEVER a good idea because America DOES NOT commit acts of terrorism. It is a goal that is doomed to fail from the beginning.
Furthermore, the author of the article doesn't seem to understand our mindset, which may explain why he is terribly wrong on the issue. The issue has little to do with being a Christian, in my opinion it is more about rewarding an act of terrorism. Also, it is not about being "reminded of a religion that spawned terrorists" (which also is trying to condem Americans to terrorists, if you read on), it is about rewarding them for terrorism.
Incase I have not said it enough yet, THE ISSUE IS THAT YOU ARE TRYING TO REWARD THEM FOR TERRORISM. THIS WILL DO NOTHING TO PROMOTE PEACE.
However, as I said in a previous post, if it's their private land, there is nothing we can do about it (rightfully so, the public or the government should have NO place in what you build on your land) and I respect the goal, but the means is only going to backfire.
Also, I just wanted to point this out. I actually do have Native blood in me (I have ancestor(s) from the Cherokee tribe), but I am also a Christian. Acording to the cartoon, I am part of a religion that terrorizes me.
In all fairness, the guy probably didn't know exactly what he was talking about. Maybe he was filled with the Liberal message that somehow rewarding people (which is what it all comes back to) will prevent future crimes. I dunno, maybe we can contact the person who wrote that. Each person we are able to show the truth to will never turn back to the Liberal mindset.
I was reading some of the comments on the cartoon on I-am-bored, and it seems some people are trying to say that we are wrong when they do not understand what we are trying to say and WHY we think that.
I think that this may be due to a number of reasons. Maybe the liberal media portrays us Conservatives as the enemy, thus the common internet user (who may or may not pay attention to politics) would try to to say what they think we think, which is incorrect.
So yea, I think that it is due to a common misperception of us. You can always tell who is really a true liberal.
Gah! What a dissappointment. If they build a mosque, then they should build a temple and church as well; that'd be fair.
Mitch, it is not about being fair. What supporters of this think will happen is the Muslims of the world (terrorist or not) will feel like the United States is "reaching out" to the Muslim world, which frankly would not be the result.
Some think that this would be a "slap in the face" to Islamic terrorists. But when you look at their goals (goals are important), which are to try and spread Islam to every person in the world and take away freedom, it seems that this is...kinda helping them.
This would happen: "Oh, the Americans are spreading our teachings on the very ground we sacrificed our brothers...Let's try it again!" - Obviously, as they are being rewarded for their crimes, right?
Not: "Oh, the Americans are spreading our teachings on the very ground we sacrificed our bothers...Let's not try it again!" - That simply makes no sense....
Please someone tell me what exactly I got wrong there....
